IEMA: looking towards the future

IEMA has worked in the industrial automation sector in the realization of electrical and electronic automatic machines since 1979, from their design to commissioning at the facilities of our end customers.

We have never stopped investing in research and development, and today we continue to evolve our process to increase efficiency and guarantee the highest quality standards.

The development of the automation of processes since 2016 has manifested into a transformation of facilities from an industry 4.0 perspective. The introduction of highly technological machines interconnected to one another has made it possible to reduce production times, decrease costs and guarantee constant, high quality products.

Hardware design

Our service is complete and starts with design of the electrical systems

Realization of electrical panels

The engineering, construction and wiring are all carried out in compliance with international standards.

On- board machine

We pay attention to every detail connected to the execution of the on-board machine system, from cutting wires to final product testing.

Final inspection

Each panel is inspected through pin to pin testing correlated to the relative certification prior to delivery.

PLC, Operator Terminals, Field Bus

We work with any type of PLC and create new programs or machine retrofitting, responding to all the customer's demands, from Ladder programming to modern structured language programming, in accordance with IEC 61131.

Motion Control

Working in close collaboration with mechanical designers, we optimise machine performance, adopting the most appropriate motion profiles. We also calibrate systems to obtain the best possible performance.

Robotics

Our engineers develop automation systems that integrate automatic machines and robots through the use of our own software, also programming the most well-known robotic systems (Fanuc, ABB, Kuka).

Vision systems

The range of sensors and control devices has also evolved over the past decade, making the highest possible technologically advanced quality control a reality. Machines often implement vision systems that can guarantee speed and precision in their controls. We supply the most appropriate system for controlling the product, developing the application with competence and professionalism.

SCADA and supervision

We use commercial SCADA principles and develop ad hoc supervision systems for specific applications for our customers.

Machine safety

International certifications guarantee safety and validate our products.

In the scope of consulting services to support electrical systems design as set forth in the Machines Directive 2006/42/ECin accordance with standards IEC EN 60204-1 / IEC EN 61439-1, the following activities are performed by the IEMA testing laboratory:

  • ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT
    – Continuity of the equipotential protection circuit;
    – Fault loop impedance;
    – Functional tests.

 

  • FUNCTIONAL SAFETY
    – PL testing and calculation according to EN 13849-1;
    – Validation of software and certification of safety functions in accordance with EN 13849-2..

LINE  OF  FUTURE

LINE OF FUTURE

LOF is the abbreviation for the new project IEMA for the automation of processes for realization of electrical systems for automatic machines.

Line of Future signifies the direction taken by IEMA, ahead of the times, proposing a new generation of processes to reduce the costs and times necessary for the realization of systems, ensuring a constant, higher quality standard.

Our working method is the result of forty years of experience in the field and the pursuit of continuous improvement, to ensure maximum quality and the briefest possible time-lines.

Vertical automated warehouse

The point of departure for the process is the vertical automated warehouse, which supplies raw materials, autonomously selecting items from the available pieces based on requirements extracted from the design software program.

Automated laser cutting

Cutting and threading operations on the plates are carried out by a laser cutting machine, ensuring precision and maximum process quality.

Automatic cutting of wiring cables

Cutting of wires and cables is carried out automatically based on data extracted from the design software program, providing information relative to length, colour and voltage. The wires are cut, crimped and sealed automatically, and then grouped into kits.

Terminal board components

The terminal board components are mechanically organized in total autonomy, according to the project drawing. The terminals are installed on guides, automatically cut and sealed.

Components assembly

Assembly of components is carried out by specialized operators in a dedicated work station, fully equipped with automatic screwdrivers. The assembly station set-up is designed to allow for rapid execution of tasks.

Wiring and manual inspection

Once the components are installed on the plates and the wiring kits are ready, the materials are then transported to the wiring station, where wiring operations are performed, and the panel is inspected by specialized technicians.

All processes that can be automated are analysed and designed to be carried out by machines. The movement phases are also automatically performed, and the prepared components in the various positions are conveyed to the assembly stations based on an automated system using AGV trolleys.

Focus on the future

With the implementation of the new automated production department, IEMA has given a concrete form to industry 4.0 concepts, obtaining excellent results in terms of quality and efficiency.
